Kenichiro Sasae is a Japanese diplomat currently serving as president and director-general of the Japan Institute of International Affairs, a think tank focused on foreign policy research. Between September 2012 and March 2018, he was the Japanese ambassador to the US. Sasae has also served as Japan’s deputy vice minister of foreign affairs, vice minister of foreign affairs, chief delegate to the Six Party Talks over North Korea’s nuclear program, and Political Director for the G-8 Summit.
