After graduation from Waseda University (BA of commerce), he joined The Yasuda Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Ltd. in April 1978, a predecessor company of Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. (“Sompo Japan”). He was appointed as Representative Director, President and CEO of Sompo Japan in July 2010. He handed over his CEO role of Sompo Japan to other executive. Currently, he is a Director of Sompo Japan.
In the parent company Sompo Holdings, Inc. (“Sompo HD”), he was appointed Representative Director, President and Executive Officer in April 2012. He was appointed Group CEO, Director, President and Representative Executive Officer of Sompo HD in June 2019. Since April 2022, he has assumed Group CEO, Director, Chairman and Representative Executive Officer of Sompo HD.
Outside of Sompo HD, he has assumed Chairman of Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives) since April 2019.
