Masakazu Tokura was born in Hyogo in 1950. He graduated from Faculty of Economics, the University of Tokyo, and joined Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. in 1974. He became Managing Executive Officer in 2006, Senior Managing Executive Officer in 2009, and became President in 2011. Since 2019, he serves as Chairman of the Board.
He was appointed Chairman of KEIDANREN in June 2021. From the social point of view, he accelerates efforts to realize Society 5.0 for SDGs as well as to establish sustainable capitalism. In doing so, the key will be wide-ranging policy issues including Green Transformation (GX) toward the target of carbon neutrality by 2050, Digital Transformation (DX) for creating an all-inclusive society, Startup promotion, work style reform and investment in people. He also takes lead in reinforcing business community's initiatives to reconstruct a free and open international economic order.
